19th Century Mahogany Military Campaign Chest with secretaire drawer. A military chest, as the name implies, was a piece of furniture designed for army top brass as they ventured on foreign expeditions. Made in two sections so it could be easily packed up and transported, often by camel or donkey. This chest has a long top drawer which opens down to reveal a fitted secretaire interior with drawers and writing leather. The corners are all brass bound and the drawers have sunken brass handles. This chest shows some veneer patching and wear and tear consistent with age, but this is well reflected in the price. (1032C) Dimensions: Width 104cm, depth 52cm, height 99cm
